How does it work?
HIFU (High intensity focused Ultrasound) uses the power of Ultrasound waves to lift and tighten skin safely. Energy generated from Ultrasound is significantly different than light such as IPL and Lasers or Radio-Frequency energy. This is due to Hifu’s unique ability to protect the skin surface, while precisely targeting and penetrating beyond the Dermis and Foundation layers, where structural weakening starts (SMAS).
The area targeted with HIFU is heated to 65 – 75°C, causing thermal coagulation which in turn stimulates natural healing and an increase in elastin and collagen regeneration and production.
Although HIFU can show the immediate effect with skin tone and texture, the wound healing process takes around 6 – 12 weeks to fully show results of lifting and tightening that may last for years.
Do I have to do anything before my treatment?
Before any treatment at Dermacore, a free client consultation takes place. During this consultation, client requirements and client suitability (based on medical history and lifestyle) for treatment are assessed. Based on these findings, a personalised treatment plan is created to help deliver the results as per client expectations.
How quickly will I see results?
Some patients feel improved tone and texture immediately after treatment. However, optimum results of uplifting, tightening, firmness, improved tone and texture are seen between 6 weeks – 12 weeks.
How long will the results last?
Although results may vary from person to person (based on the level of skin laxity), in general, results can last from 6 months – 2 years plus. Therefore, is it of paramount importance that aftercare advice is followed to increase the longevity of results.
How many treatments do I need?
The number of sessions depends on the clients’ age and skin condition. Even though one treatment may be enough on a person with light to moderate skin laxity, others may benefit from additional treatment four weeks post initial procedure.
Is it painful?
HIFU Facelift is not a painful procedure; however, some patients feel pinprick or heat sensation in the treated area, especially around the mouth and chin. This is generally a good indication of commencement of collagen production and regeneration process. Although comfort levels may vary from client to client, these sensations are temporary and subside post-treatment.
Which areas can be treated?
HIFU applies to treat signs of ageing areas around eyes, mouth, chin and neck (including décolletage). It helps to treat frown lines effectively, crow’s feet, nasolabial folds, sagging skin around the jawline, neck, decolletage, double chin and other fine lines and wrinkles.
What is the recovery time?
There is no recovery time, and you can return to your daily routine immediately.
Are there any side effects?
As HIFU is a non-invasive procedure, there is no risk of infection. However, some clients may experience mild redness and or tenderness; this should fade within a few days and is often not particularly noticeable.
What aftercare advice do you offer?
We recommend that clients avoid the sun, reduce alcohol intake, don’t take hot showers or baths (immediately after treatment) and drink more water. This will promote skin and general well being and aid in the healing process. In addition, we recommend Lithemis Resync Serum as it boosts the collagen production and maintains the skin’s optimum moisture levels, so that skin looks full and plump.
