Before & After
The IPL Technology
The IPL system delivers broad-spectrum high-intensity pulses of light to the selected area of treatment. The light targets either the melanin (for pigmentation removal) or blood, in case of conditions such as vascular lesions, causing them to breakdown. This injured tissue is then removed from the body through the lymphatic system leaving the skin, even tone, smooth textured and more youthful. The thermal effect of IPL also stimulates collagen production, making your skin feeling firm and supple while showing remarkable improvement in fine lines and wrinkles.

FAQs
What happens on the day?
First, your eyes will be protected by safety eyewear and a cold gel will be applied to the area being treated. Then using applicator, pulses of light are delivered to the target area. Although the treatment is considered painless, you may feel a slight stinging or heat sensation as the pulses of light pass over your skin. Post-treatment, your skin may remain slightly red for a few hours. This is temporary and will fade away in 24 hours. However, pigmented spots may darken for a few days as they are shed from the skin’s surface.
As there is no downtime required for IPL skin therapy, you can return to your daily activities immediately.
Is there any pre-treatment advice to follow?
Before starting any treatment at Dermacore, a FREE initial consultation is held with the practitioner. During this time, client requirements and client suitability (based on medical history and lifestyle) for treatment are assessed. Based on these findings a personalised treatment plan is created to help deliver the results as per client expectations
How quickly will I see results?
The results are immediate, and you can see improvement in skin texture, firmness and complexion after the first treatment.
How many treatments do I need?
The number of treatment sessions is dependant on existing skin condition and the results desired. This will be discussed at your initial free consultation.
Is it painful?
IPL treatment is not a painful procedure; however, some patients feel pinprick or heat sensation in the treated area, especially around the mouth and chin. This is generally a good indication of commencement of collagen production and regeneration process. Although comfort levels may vary from client to client, these sensations are temporary and subside post-treatment.
Are there any side effects?
There is a very low risk of side effects with IPL Skin Rejuvenation. Redness and increased sensitivity in the skin can develop after the treatment. This is temporary and fades away in 24 hours. However, rarely, some people may develop swelling, temporary darkening of age spots, and crusting, etc. These side effects settle down within 15 -30 minutes post-treatment and the patient can return to daily activities.
In fact, after the treatment, you may notice that sunspots and discolouration becoming darker and slightly more prominent. This is normal and a good sign that the treatment is working. It is highly recommended to avoid lengthy and direct sun exposure to the skin.
What is the recovery time?
There is no recovery time, and you can return to your daily routine immediately.
What aftercare is recommended?
We recommend the following for aftercare
- maintain skin moisture.
- Gently cleanse with warm water twice a day.
- Use sunscreen consistently. We recommend sunscreen of SPF 30 and above
- It is highly recommended to combine IPL Skin rejuvenation with microdermabrasion and or skin peels two to three weeks post-treatment. This will help to hydrate and protect the treated area and eliminate dead cells from the skin surface to give you a radiant look.
- Avoid hot baths, hot showers, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and excessive exercise for at least 24-48 hours. Avoid any other activity that may overheat the skin.
- Do not pick on or scratch the treated area. Let the natural healing take place by itself.
- Avoid using any skin care product with a high content of Vitamin A, such as retinoids, AHAs based products or glycolic acid etc.
Can you use it in combination with other treatments to enhance results?
You combine IPL skin rejuvenation with Microdermabrasion, Skin Peels, Micro-Needling and Radio Frequency to further enhance your skin.
