Microneedling also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is a proven skin rejuvenation technique that involves the use of a short needle to penetrate microscopic channels into the skin. This stimulates superficial collagen through the natural wound healing process. Do I have to do anything before my treatment?
Before any treatment at Dermacore, a free client consultation takes place. During this consultation, client requirements and client suitability (based on medical history and lifestyle) for treatment are assessed. Based on these findings, a personalised treatment plan is created to help deliver the results as per client expectations.
How quickly will I see results?
Most clients see a visible improvement in firmness, tone and texture after the first treatment. While some results are immediate, best results can be expected in the following 4-6 weeks.
How long will the results last?
The results from micro-needling are ‘permanent’ and can last for many years, giving you a youthful, radiant look. However, as your skin ages, it requires Maintenance this is due to the constant turnover of collagen.
How many treatments do I need?
We recommended a course of 4-6 treatments, 4 to 6 weeks apart in the first year depending on your cosmetic goal.
Is it painful?
Before the treatment, a numbing cream can be applied to minimise the pain that is felt during the procedure.
Which areas can be treated?
Microneedling can be used to treat face, neck, décolleté, arms and legs. Medical Microneedling is considered safe for all skin types and colours without risk of post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation.
What is the recovery time?
There is no recovery time, and you can return to your daily routine immediately.
Are there any side effects?
No adverse side effects have been reported after more than 150,000 micro-needling procedures carried out globally. However, the skin may remain slightly pink for a few hours. This temporary and will subside with 24-36 hours. We do highly recommend that aftercare advice is followed.
What aftercare advice do you offer?
- Avoid sun exposure and suncream
- Do not use any skin products that contain AHA’s, Retinols and other similar agents
- Increase usage of collagen-stimulating peptides and Anti- Oxidant products. (Ask your Practitioner for more details)
- Avoid the use of makeup for at least 24 hours post-treatment
- Use a cooling face mask
- Avoid hot bath, hot showers, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and any other activity that would reopen pores such as exercise.
- Drink plenty of water
Can you use it in combination with other treatments to enhance results?
Microneedling can be used with Dermaplaning, Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peels, HIFU and Radio Frequency Skin tightening for further enhance results.
